Lucas Herrington is underway at Hull City, playing in a pair of wins against Manchester United (League) and Stoke City (EFL Cup) to start their return season to the England’s top-flight in strong fashion.
Herrington started 2026 a Brisbane Roar player, turning out for his hometown club for the final time on January 3. He’s since earned MLS All Star status during his time at Colorado Rapids, debuted for the Socceroos and impressed at the World Cup, and is now a Premier League footballer. He doesn’t turn 19 until next month.
‘To go from the A-League to Premier League in that space of time… when you take a step back from it all, it is incredible,’ Daniel Garb told Box2Box.
‘The plaudits were coming thick and fast when he was in the MLS; [earlier] there was Ruben Zadkovic’s famous quote that he was the best defender in Australia before he’d made his A-League debut. A lot of people laughed then. They’re not laughing now.
‘Along with Harry Kewell at Leeds, it would probably be the quickest ascension to the very top that we’ve had in the Australian game.’
